Video for a postponed climate post
Oct. 12th, 2024 04:06 pmI was going to write a post around this video, but found another video I liked better for The BBC World Service examines 'How the US election could change our climate' plus MSNBC on Project 2025 and climate. I might still blog about it.
I came up with another way to conclude Three hottest days on record this week and it's only Thursday.
Video for an abandoned air pollution post
Jun. 29th, 2023 06:55 pmI decided to post CBS Detroit reports 'Michigan could become a climate safe haven' instead of a post featuring the following video.
This is the worst air pollution I've seen in Detroit since I moved here.

I used another video for PBS Terra asks 'Can Green Energy Make The Grid SAFER?' I thought something more global and evergreen would get more page views than this video, which was more local and time-specific. I may have been wrong.

I decided this wasn't as dynamic as the Reuters and CBC videos I chose for 2022 was the fifth-warmest year on record, EU's Copernicus reports, so I'm posting it here.
Like space, climate and weather were popular topics for year in review videos this month. That meant the following videos didn't make the cut for 2022 in climate and weather from NBC News, DW News, and ABC News. Too bad, they were good, but not as good as the ones I used, although I liked the preview image for the WION video the most.
Added video to Great Salt Lake post
Oct. 21st, 2022 01:50 pmI added this video to PBS NewsHour on Great Salt Lake shrinking during the current drought because it really helped tell the story I wanted. Not often I do that!
Rejected video for Hurricane Andrew post
Aug. 25th, 2022 12:12 pmThis was too much like a Today Show video that I used in Hurricane Andrew 30 years later, so I didn't use it there.
Rejected video for Colbert Heat Wave post
Jul. 21st, 2022 09:13 amI watched this in hopes of including it in Colbert returns from vacation to tell jokes about heat waves, drought, and climate change, but rejected it. It was about the weather, but not any of the things in the title.
Despite having the best description of all the videos I looked at before writing NOAA predicts another above average hurricane season for 2022, I found the rest of this video not as good as the ones I used.
