Rejected video for World Water Day post
Mar. 22nd, 2025 01:41 pmThis didn't fit two of the themes in The United Nations on glacier preservation, the theme of this year's World Water Day, so I'm posting it here.
Video for a postponed climate post
Oct. 12th, 2024 04:06 pmI was going to write a post around this video, but found another video I liked better for The BBC World Service examines 'How the US election could change our climate' plus MSNBC on Project 2025 and climate. I might still blog about it.
Video for a postponed post
Feb. 24th, 2024 01:41 pmI was thinking of writing a post around this video, but decided to write PBS Terra explains 'How An Ancient Ocean Shaped US History' instead. Maybe later.
Postponed video for climate change post
Dec. 27th, 2023 12:23 pmI watched this video before posting 2023 is the hottest year on record and other climate and weather stories. It didn't work for today's post, but maybe later.
I decided this didn't have quite the scope I wanted for MSNBC covers record heat and climate change for World Emoji Day.
I came up with another way to conclude Three hottest days on record this week and it's only Thursday.
Abandoned image for climate change post
May. 17th, 2023 10:50 amI decided I didn't need this image for FiveThirtyEight examines 'How Climate Change Will Reshape Where Americans Live'.

Postponed video for a climate change post
May. 13th, 2023 11:44 amI looked at the following video, then decided to post PBS Terra asks 'Why Is The U.S. Warming Faster Than Average?' instead. Maybe later.
I used another video for PBS Terra asks 'Can Green Energy Make The Grid SAFER?' I thought something more global and evergreen would get more page views than this video, which was more local and time-specific. I may have been wrong.
This video didn't fit the sourcing theme for MLive asks 'Michigan is a climate haven in a warming world. Will everyone move here?' It was also a touch too old.
I decided this wasn't as dynamic as the Reuters and CBC videos I chose for 2022 was the fifth-warmest year on record, EU's Copernicus reports, so I'm posting it here.
Like space, climate and weather were popular topics for year in review videos this month. That meant the following videos didn't make the cut for 2022 in climate and weather from NBC News, DW News, and ABC News. Too bad, they were good, but not as good as the ones I used, although I liked the preview image for the WION video the most.
Added video to Great Salt Lake post
Oct. 21st, 2022 01:50 pmI added this video to PBS NewsHour on Great Salt Lake shrinking during the current drought because it really helped tell the story I wanted. Not often I do that!
