Deadline Hollywood, reported May 18, 2019: More Than 1 Million Disappointed Fans Sign Petition Demanding ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 Remake. In terms of numbers, this has to be the biggest single fan wank I've ever seen. Also, not The Onion.

CNET, reported April 2, 2019: RIP, Google Plus: People memorialize failed social network on Twitter.
The day has officially come for Google to subtract Google Plus.

The move has been a long time coming. Last year, the search giant said it would shut down Google Plus after it found and fixed a security flaw that may've exposed the personal data of 500,000 users. On Tuesday, Google began shutting down pages on the platform.

Last year, I wrote that "I plan on posting an obituary a day until I run out, get tired of it, or get told to stop/banned. Any bets on which will happen first?"  So far, none of them have happened.  In fact, the opposite of the last occurred; I was made a mod of deathwatch.  Surprise!  That's the first time I've been promoted to mod on any community at JournalFen in either incarnation.

Over at deathwatch on JournalFen, I posted ‘The Punisher’ & ‘Jessica Jones’ Canceled By Netflix; Latter’s 3rd Season Still To Air from Deadline Hollywood. There, I can't embed videos. Here, I can, so I'm sharing Jessica Jones & The Punisher CANCELLED - Disney vs Netflix by Beyond the Trailer.

Just for this, I'll probably be voting for "Daredevil" at the Saturn Awards for Best New Media Superhero Series.

It's been a while since I've reposted an obituary from deathwatch on JournalFen, but every day since May that I've posted here, I've posted there.  Here is today's.

The Hollywood Reporter, reported October 6, 2018: Scott Wilson, Actor in 'The Walking Dead' and 'In Cold Blood,' Dies at 76.
Scott Wilson, the Georgia-born actor admired for the intensity he demonstrated in such dark, disturbing projects as In Cold Blood, The Walking Dead and The Ninth Configuration, has died after a battle with cancer. He was 76.

Details were not immediately available, but the official Twitter account for The Walking Dead comic book, on which the popular AMC show of the same name is based, confirmed the news Saturday. "We are deeply saddened to report that Scott Wilson, the incredible actor who played Hershel on #TheWalkingDead, has passed away at the age of 76," the statement read. "Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in paradise, Scott. We love you."
As a fan of "The Walking Dead," this hit me.  I get to mourn Hershel all over again.

I'm still posting obituaries of show business celebrities over at deathwatch on JournalFen. Today's was ‘LazyTown’ villain Stefan Karl Stefansson dies at 43. Instead of sharing the text, I'm sharing a video: Lazy Town | We are Number One Music Video.

Deadline Hollywood, reported June 22, 2018: ‘Timeless’ Canceled By NBC After 2 Seasons, Might Get Series Finale Movie.
But what about Rufus? This is bad news for Timeless fans — for a second consecutive year, NBC has canceled the time-travel series. This time, NBC postponed the renewal decision until after the May upfronts; it comes just days before the options of the series’ cast are set to expire.

That was in part because the network and Timeless producer Sony Pictures TV had been discussing doing a two-hour movie that would resolve the cliffhanger in the recent Season 2 finale and wrap the stories on the show, giving fans closure. I hear the two sides have not been able to make the economics work so far but conversations continue, and NBC appears interested.

I first posted at deathwatch on JournalFen: Anthony Bourdain (1956 – 2018), celebrity chef, author, and TV host. When I reposted at my personal journal there, I wrote, "This hits me hard, as I have been a fan of his since I read "Kitchen Confidential." People also said I sound like him."

At Crazy Eddie's Motie News, I made a less personal point: Anthony Bourdain's and Kate Spade's deaths call attention to rising suicide rates in the U.S. This is part of a larger trend displayed in the following graphic from Business Insider.

I'm not done with this piece of news. I plan on using it to update U.S. life expectancy falls prompting Russian analogies from 2016. I'll post a link here when I do.

CBS Evening News: Tom Wolfe, prolific journalist and author, dead at 88.
Tom Wolfe, the journalist and author of books like "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" has died. Wolfe pioneered "New Journalism," a style known for longform pieces written in a subjective voice. CBS News correspondent Vladimir Duthiers takes a look back at his life.
At JournalFen, I wrote "Click on the link in the headline to watch the video." Here, I can embed it so people can watch it without going to YouTube.

Since I posted an obituary for Verne Troyer, I posted five more, one per day. Here they are:

Milos Forman, director of 'One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest' and 'Amadeus,' dies at 86
Harry Anderson dead at 65
NPR announcer Carl Kasell dies At 84
Wrestling Legend Bruno Sammartino Dies At Age 82
Art Bell dies at 72

I excerpted the last one from Crazy Eddie's Motie News, where I posted R.I.P. Art Bell. Hey, I'm an environmentalist; I recycle.

I plan on posting an obituary a day until I run out, get tired of it, or get told to stop/banned. Any bets on which will happen first?

Over at Booman Tribune, one of the other users mentioned Aja Romano in relation to an episode of unfunny fandom. That reminded me that I had an account at the Dreamwidth version of JournalFen, journalfen.com, so I returned. I've posted three times, I decided to post in a ghost town, Verne Troyer, Mini-Me, dead at 49 (deathwatch), and Verne Troyer, Mini-Me, dead at 49 (my journal). Let's see if I attract any people back or I've found a place to be a virtual hermit.  I'll start by posting another obituary to find out.

Wochit sets the stage for this wank by professionals in The Force Awakens Receives Late Nomination For Critics' Choice Award For Best Picture.
After an unprecedented vote by members, the Broadcast Film Critics Association had added Star Wars: The Force Awakens to the list of nominees for the 2015 Critics' Choice Award for Best Picture. When Critic's Choice Awards nominations came out last Monday, most of the critics in the association had not seen the latest Star Wars movie, since Disney had refused to release copies for early screenings. However, the strong positive reaction to the film led the BFCA to take a vote on whether it should be allowed in as a late inclusion, and apparently the BFCA voted in the Force Awakens' favor.
The film was absent from the Golden Globes nomination list as well because advance screenings for critics weren't available in time for the nomination deadline. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, who run the "drinky Oscars" didn't accomodate the film, but the Critics' Choice Awards did. Considering that the American Film Institute honored "The Force Awakens" as one of its top ten films of the year and this decision follows the precedent of adding 'Castaway' to the list in 2000, the BFCA probably made the right call.

Not all members of the BFCA agreed as Collider reported in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Critics’ Choice Awards Nomination Sparks Outcry. )

I just found out that JournalFen has been down since April. No more fandom_wank. The irony is that I went there to read what deathwatch had to say about the passing James Earl Jones and I found out that it was JF that had passed!
